- Bristol Free School
Bristol Free School Sixth Form is a new and thriving Sixth Form. Our focus is on personal and academic excellence for each student, whether that entails studying at university, embarking on an apprenticeship, or taking up an offer of employment.
We are open to all students from across Bristol. We have two central criteria over and above your exam results: a desire to succeed and a desire to forge the bonds and friendships which make this school such a special place. Our reputation for outstanding teaching and a careful, individualised pastoral focus combine to make us the number one choice for post-16 in North Bristol. Our staff are uniquely qualified, with most holding post-graduate subject degrees in their chosen field.
As a new Sixth Form, it’s easy to state the obvious: our buildings and facilities are new and they are lovely. We have a light and spacious common room exclusively for Sixth Form use with a refectory selling coffee, tea and tasty snacks. It’s the perfect space to talk and reflect on the day’s events, plan your studies and interact with your peers. Our study centre is a quiet, contemplative and popular space modelled on a university library with dedicated study booths.
Our tutors excel in offering a high level of individual support; providing guidance through each phase of the journey through years 12 and 13, encompassing the Extended Project Qualification, the perils of UCAS applications and our work shadowing programme. We encourage and expect all students to take part in a wide range of enrichment activities including sport, performing and creative arts, outdoor education and peer mentoring. We also offer a spectacular range of fantastic trips and visits alongside the prospect of community or volunteering work, all of which contribute towards a sense of fulfilment, but also support applications to universities and employment.
BFS Sixth Form is, above all, a happy and inclusive Sixth Form, a place where students work hard and where they find friendship, enrichment and support. It is an amazing place to work and study, and I look forward to welcoming you to the community.
